The Expression of Libra

Libra seeks harmony in relationship with others. There is a focus on the energetic flow between themselves and another. For that reason, there is sensitivity to the receptive state of another and their willingness to return that flow. For this reason, harmony and balance in relationship is important, because it optimizes this energetic connection.

When the focus on the another person's needs and state becomes too important, it can then lead to indecisiveness and delays while waiting for the other to act first. To break out of that trap and dependency, Libra needs to regain focus on their relationship with themselves, their feelings and the inner sense of knowing or spirit within.

Libra rules the hips, balance and kidneys. It is associated with art, diplomacy, tact and social refinement.

The planet Venus rules the sign Libra. It also rules the sign Taurus. Venus relates to openness, sharing and harmony. In Taurus, Venus expresses those qualities in a more earthy way, with the openness to value that is both material and valuing of others. With Libra, that openness and sharing is towards relationship with others and maintaining the harmony of relationship. Because Libra is an air sign, there is a pull towards the beauty of ideas, concepts and patterns.

With the Moon in Libra, there is a feeling or need for equilibrium and harmony. There is sensitivity  and need to give, receive and share and to seek out harmony and harmonious situations. Often the mother is experienced as social and refined. When harmony is lost, there is the experience of losing energy in relationships as well as holding on to past hurts in relationships

Libra and Mercury Retrograde

It is the tendency to over-focus on the needs and attention of others that can set Libra up with the Mercury Retrograde Cycle, because under those circumstances, details that need attending to may be ignored. Sometimes details may be left out that are important because there may be a sense that others may not wish to hear them or there is delay waiting for the 'right' time to mention them.

Another contribution towards the retrograde cycle can occur through delaying action, not taking the initiative or avoiding confrontations, and thus not addressing a timely matter that may lead to difficulties later.
