The Expression of Gemini

Gemini seeks articulation, information and the grasp of the immediate surroundings. With Gemini there is a natural curiosity with ideas and interesting facts and the sharing of them.

When Gemini is pulled out of the spontaneity of the flow of ideas and interaction with their environment, Gemini can seek that experience of aliveness through diversion by over-focusing on talking and communication. The tendency for Gemini to change their mind and shift priorities and commitments in response to new information and new ideas can be be interpreted by others as unreliability.

For Gemini, the return to their innate spontaneity with ideas and their interaction with their surroundings follows a reconnection with the alive curiosity of the inner child and with allowing the mind to rest in the natural flow and joy of the heart.

Gemini rules the chest, lungs, fingers and nervous system. The lungs rule the breath, which in turn defines the state of the mind. Gemini focuses on grasping with the mind and the hands. Often the hands move with speech and expression. Gemini is associated with communication, information, local travel and interaction. The sign is also related to siblings, as children tend to open up and communicate with others of the same age.

The Depiction of Gemini

Glyph of the astrological sign Gemini traditionally depicts the communication that occurs between two souls or two minds and is derived from the symbolism of one moon on the top communicating with another moon at the bottom. It also symbolizes the left and right hemispheres of the brain, the left and right sides of the body and of course, the vocal chords themselves.

Moon in Gemini

When the Moon is in Gemini, there is feeling or need to communicate and often a tendency to be talkative. Often the mother is experienced as talkative and curious. When not in flow with expression and ones natural curiosity, feelings are compensated by words and a need to talk.

Gemini and Mercury Retrograde

Because Mercury Rules Gemini, there tends to be greater sensitivity to Mercury Retrograde cycles where it applies to communication, local travel and scheduling.

Where Gemini often sets themselves up with the retrograde is in not checking the accuracy of facts or the opinions of others, or by sharing facts too early, before they have been checked or vetted. Also it is important to recognize opinions that masquerade as facts, but are actually extrapolations based on judgments and false beliefs.
